QLD Construction Site Safety Guide

Safety Toolbox Meetings Reach Engaging New Heights

QLD Construction Site Safety Guide 2015/16 – Released

QMB9-5-Chart-ImageThirty-five construction site workers are severely injured each day and over a quarter of onsite fatalities are caused by falls from heights. These hard-hitting facts show just how important it is for construction workers to understand the risks they face on site. This is why Pro-Visual Publishing, in conjunction with the Australian Constructors Association (ACA), the National Safety Council of Australia (NSCA) Foundation and Safe Work Australia, has released the QLD Construction Site Safety Guide 2015/16 with augmented reality (AR) capabilities. By subscribing to the guide and downloading the Pro-Vis AR app on smartphones or tablets, construction workers can actively learn how to keep themselves and their mates safe on the job.

Toolbox meetings will take on a whole new level of engagement with newsreel videos, training and induction resources, links to additional information, and general safety awareness about the areas that contribute to a large proportion of industry fatalities. Fire hazards are one of those areas and knowing which fire protection equipment to choose is a common concern that employers often face. Along with prevention tips, the guide offers some suggestions on choosing the right extinguishers for the job.

The animated AR experiences demonstrate in striking detail how hazards and other incidents often occur, and emphasise how important it is that the correct measures are put in place to prevent accidents from happening on site. When workers engage with safety, it could mean the difference between life and death.

“I would like to thank all of the sponsors of the QLD Construction Site Safety Guide 2015/16. Their support has made it possible for the Guide to be distributed free of charge.”
