Dr Craig Ashhurst and Dr Long are presenting a four-part series of workshops online on 4, 11, 18 and 25 March 7.30pm Canberra time. You can register here: admin@spor.com.au and download the flyer here: https://spor.com.au/
Each session will run for 90 minutes and will explore the skills of Leading, Managing and Supervising.
The anchor for the workshops will be their popular book: Following-Leading in Risk, A Humanizing Dynamic (free download – https://www.humandymensions.com/product/following-leading-risk/). Craig and Rob are currently working on the second edition of this text.
It is important that these workshops focus on the doing rather than the status of Leadership, Management and Supervision. This is a critical difference in how SPoR understands the craft, art and practicality of following-leading.
One of the models to help understand the challenges of Leading, Managing and Supervising is the SPoR Following-Leading Model (adapted from the Australian Public Services).
In this model we understand the nature of roles in relationship to complexity and use the Workspace, Headspace and Groupspace symbolism to tackle the challenges at each level.
Leadership is not confined to an executive position, neither is supervising limited to a middle management task. Indeed, Leading, Managing and Supervising are all dialectically intertwined skills, it just depends where one directs one’s energies as each is needed according to context and time.
This is where the SPoR ‘Adaptive Toolbox’ comes in (pp. 99-117), a suite of models and tools to develop skills in Leading, Managing and Supervising. These are presented in the final thirst of the book.
These models and tools are practical and positive and, enable engagement with others, so that one’s style can be humanising, ethical and mutual. The tools enable skills in observation, listening, dialogue, reflection, surfacing the unconscious and social influencing.
Both Craig and Rob have extensive experience executive, operator and management work in various industries, in: Government, non-Government Community Services, Mining, Construction, Education sectors and Manufacturing.
The cost for the four-part program is $400 and you can register here to be invoice directly: admin@spor.com.au or, you can register via the website at: https://spor.com.au/leading-managing-supervising-workshops/
