Dealing with Incidents

imageMost approaches to incident investigation focus on technique and process. This is important, gathering facts and compiling important information is critical.

However, what most approaches don’t consider the range of biases that come with being human. In particular, it is crucial to understand and be mindful of hindsight bias. As soon as someone informs you that an incident has occurred, you start forming opinions about that incident based on your previous experiences, your background and knowledge.
In this session on ‘Conversations on the Couch’, we share some of their learning about how bias can impact on investigations.
