After a week of sharing, learning and coaching in Canberra, Dec and Manu from Romania are on their way back home.
On our final day of sharing and learning we decided to record some conversations about issues that were concerning them. One such issue was the challenge of psychosocial risk.
So, using the methods of SPoR we decided to tackle the issue using an iCue© conversation. This was recorded here: https://vimeo.com/1157487207
iCue is a visual, verbal, semiotic method for thinking, mapping relationships and open conversation. The method is trademarked to SPoR and relies on advanced skills in: concept mapping, open questioning, suspending agenda, listening, attending, debriefing, coding language and knowledge in Socialitie. iCue takes approximately 6-12 months to learn how to be intuitive in using the method. However, once learned it liberates the way you see, understand and tackle risk. There is nothing in risk and safety that comes close to the effectiveness of this method in tackling risk.
We had this iCue conversation in my study which is a converted carport. You can see us pictured having our chat. One of the great advantages of iCue is its visibility, openness and transparency. Most processes of risk assessment are not like this. In SPoR, the emphasis is always on the social, the relational and the dialectic between people.
In SPoR, we have many resources, curricula and experiential learning processes to learn practical, positive and enlightening methods of engagement. iCue is but one of many SPoR methods that are practiced all over the globe to improve risk and safety.
When one completes an iCue (or a sequence of iCues), one is left with something that looks visually messy. Eg. see the iCue board example below.
The iCue method often ends out looking messy but this is very real because life is messy, relational and social. iCue can be undertaken with 1, 3 or 300 people if the person undertaking the iCue is educated and skilled in the method. After this we often use products like Lucidchart or Omnigraffle to ‘re-draw’ the map and use a process of revealing in reporting. It is extremely effective for showing how events evolve, work in sequence and how factors in Workspace, Headspace and Groupspace inter-affect each other.

If you want to learn more about SPoR and you are in Europe, you can contact Dec and Manu here:
Dec and Manu are the directors of Corporate Dynamics from Romania (https://www.corporatedynamics.ro/). The fact they these two men flew across the world for a week of SPoR should tell you something about what SPoR offers and is.
