March Workshops, Following-Leading-Managing-Supervising – SafetyRisk.net

There are still a few places in this workshop series to be held online on 4, 11, 18 and 25 March at 7.30 pm Canberra time. The workshops will be facilitated by Dr Ashhurst and Dr Long.

You may ask: Why are these four activities hyphenated and joined together?

The hyphen is often used in SPoR to indicate joining and dialectic between activities and concepts. In this case, the activities of Following-Leading-Managing-Supervising all involve interconnecting and inter-affecting dynamics. One thing is for sure, if you don’t know how to follow, you will never know how to lead. We discussed this in our book: Following-Leading in Risk, A Humanising Dynamic (https://www.humandymensions.com/product/following-leading-risk/)

The workshops are structured as follows:

Session 1. Exploring the problems of current approaches to leading, managing and supervising.

  • The funnel, the hero and the ethics of power.
  • De-humanising strategies and humanising strategies
  • The APS model.

Session 2. The Following-Leading Dynamic

  • What is it? How does it Work? What are its challenges?
  • What is mutuality? Why do worldviews matter?
  • From Methodology to Methods

Session 3. Case Studies

  • Funnel Pty Ltd examples. Hot desking, ISO 45003.
  • Characteristics, models, myths.
  • Orientation, disposition and persons.

Session 4. Bubbles and Sub-Cultures
