How do you Communicate? – SafetyRisk.net

On a recent trip to Darwin I was standing in line, waiting to board the plane when I spied  a young person wearing this T-Shirt.

What an incredibly profound statement!

When I go into organisations I see plenty of paperwork. Without getting into a competition, I have seen an 80 page Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) on how a pipe roller works. https://safetyrisk.net/pass-me-another-swms-leo-the-last-one-was-too-short/

It was an exceptionally detailed body of diagrams and explanations pitched at university undergraduate level. None of the workers on this particular shift had finished high school. None of them had read the SWMS. Some of them even admitted that they couldn’t read

Can you see the disconnect?

When we rely on the written word, we seem to trying to alleviate any problems we may in a court of law before we actually see if what we are doing works in place.

Social Psychology of Risk (SPoR) offers visual and verbal elements to help organisations progress connection and understanding with their workers, which in turn helps with productivity and programme.

Risk Diversity is holding a 3 day workshop on SEEK (Social psychology Event Exploration and Knowledge) to help with visual and verbal knowing.
