Perth Workshops 3-7 October 2022
Due Diligence and Holistic Ergonomics
The highly successful Due Diligence program will be delivered in Perth on 3-5 October. This program delivered jointly by Greg Smith (author of Paper Safe) and Dr Rob Long is a program that sets the cat among the safety pigeons. This is the program that calls out many myths in safety that are simply untrue. This is the program that that demonstrates how the Law thinks and, how the court acts when it comes to safety.
However, this is not just a program that deconstructs what is, it reconstructs what could be and supports such reconstruction with skill development and practical ways of doing safety that is relevant to the Law and the court. This is a program that helps safety people to do what works! (https://www.humandymensions.com/product/it-works-a-new-approach-to-risk-and-safety/ )
When Greg and Rob released their book, videos and podcast series on Risky Conversations little did they know that the demand for this program would be overwhelming. The video series has over 11,000 downloads (https://vimeo.com/showcase/3938199 ) and the book (https://www.humandymensions.com/product/risky-conversations/ ) over 30,000 downloads. And, hot on the heels of this came Greg’s book Papersafe a best seller in its own right and a wakeup call for an industry that trusts excessively in paperwork and checklisting for credibility and effectiveness.
Greg presents with the force of evidence with many case studies, court rulings and coronial inquest reports whilst Dr Long presents what organisations can do that works and supports the way the courts understand the Law.

If you can’t come for the Perth program we can bring the program to you and your organization, if this is of interest email Dr Long firstname.lastname@example.org
As a bonus Dr Long will also be delivering the two-day Holistic Ergonomics program on 6,7 October. So, a full week of studying the Social Psychology of Risk (SPoR) in the west.
The Holistic Ergonomics program picks up where conventional ergonomics stops. Unless ergonomics includes the whole person, it just remains about technicalities of fitting the user to the machine or the machine to the user. Holistic Ergonomics goes much further than this and includes: an understanding of personhood, mental health, the nature of affordance, embodied knowing, the psychology of goals and motivation, Socialitie and the problem of an objects focused safety industry that is yet to humanize safety. The program includes practical tools to help manage ergonomics holistically.
